PT| A Casa da Liberdade – Mário Cesariny inaugura na terça-feira, 17 de março, entre as 17h e as 20h, a exposição “2MM: Reinata Sadimba e Ernesto Shikhani”, patente até 25 de abril de 2026.
A mostra apresenta obras inéditas destes dois mestres da arte moçambicana contemporânea, destacando a relevância e projeção internacional das suas trajetórias, e o diálogo entre tradição, memória e modernidade nas suas práticas artísticas.
No mesmo dia, inaugura na Perve Galeria a exposição coletiva “Ars Mater”, patente até 2 de abril de 2026, que celebra os 26 anos de atividade do Colectivo Multimédia Perve em Alfama.
ENG| On Tuesday, March 17, from 5 pm to 8 pm, Freedom House – Mário Cesariny will open the exhibition "2MM: Reinata Sadimba & Ernesto Shikhani", on view until April 25, 2026.
The exhibition presents previously unseen works by these two masters of Mozambican art. The show highlights the relevance and international recognition of their artistic trajectories, emphasizing a dialogue between tradition, memory and modernity in contemporary African art.
On the same day, Perve Galeria will open the collective exhibition "Ars Mater", on view until April 2, 2026, celebrating the 26 years of activity of the Colectivo Multimédia Perve in Alfama.

2MM – Reinata Sadimba e Ernesto Shikhani assinala 20 anos após a primeira exposição que colocou em diálogo as obras destes dois mestres moçambicanos na Perve Galeria, reafirmando a atualidade, relevância e projeção internacional das suas trajetórias.
A exposição recupera e atualiza um diálogo iniciado num momento em que a Perve já afirmava a urgência de apresentar artistas profundamente enraizados nas suas heranças culturais, mas capazes de construir linguagens contemporâneas com validade e impacto internacional. Tal como então, 2MM afirma uma África que se reinventa a partir dos seus próprios referenciais, recusando estereótipos e modelos impostos, e propondo uma leitura da modernidade construída a partir de múltiplas periferias, num gesto de afirmação de liberdade artística e cultural.
Reinata Sadimba, referência incontornável da cerâmica contemporânea africana, é apresentada num momento de forte reconhecimento internacional, com a sua obra em destaque na exposição O poder de minhas mãos, no SESC Pompeia, em São Paulo, após ter realizado uma apresentação individual na Art Dubai, uma das mais importantes plataformas globais para a arte contemporânea. A sua prática, transcendendo a tradição Makonde e colocando na linha da frente a experiência da mulher, transforma a cerâmica num território de narrativa, memória, corpo, maternidade e resistência, afirmando uma linguagem simultaneamente ancestral e radicalmente contemporânea, onde a criação se afirma como espaço de autonomia e liberdade.
Ernesto Shikhani, figura central da pintura moçambicana, consolidou também, nas últimas duas décadas, um reconhecimento internacional ímpar. Após o diálogo inaugural com Reinata na Perve, tornou-se, em 2018, no primeiro artista moçambicano a viver permanentemente no país a participar na prestigiada secção Spotlight na Frieze Masters, em Londres, uma das mais importantes feiras de arte do mundo. A sua obra, marcada por uma forte dimensão simbólica, espiritual e política, articula tradição, conhecimento, identidade e crítica social, afirmando uma pintura onde a memória ancestral e a reflexão sobre a modernidade africana se cruzam como exercício de liberdade crítica e de afirmação do pensamento.

2MM – Reinata Sadimba and Ernesto Shikhani marks 20 years since the first exhibition that brought together the works of these two Mozambican masters at Perve Galeria, reaffirming the relevance and international projection of their careers.
The exhibition recovers and updates a dialogue that began at a time when Perve was already affirming the urgency of presenting artists deeply rooted in their cultural heritage, but capable of constructing contemporary languages with international validity and impact. As then, 2MM affirms an Africa that reinvents itself from its own references, rejecting stereotypes and imposed models, and proposing a reading of modernity built from multiple peripheries, in a gesture of affirmation of artistic and cultural freedom.
Reinata Sadimba, an essential reference in contemporary African ceramics, is presented at a time of strong international recognition, with her work featured in the exhibition O poder das minhas mãos (The Power of My Hands) at SESC Pompeia in São Paulo, after having held a solo presentation at Art Dubai, one of the most important global platforms for contemporary art. Her practice, transcending the Makonde tradition and placing women's experience at the forefront, transforms ceramics into a territory of narrative, memory, body, motherhood and resistance, affirming a language that is both ancestral and radically contemporary, where creation asserts itself as a space of freedom and autonomy.
Ernesto Shikhani, a central figure in Mozambican painting, has also consolidated his unique international recognition over the last two decades. After his inaugural dialogue with Reinata na Perve, in 2018 he became the first Mozambican artist living permanently in the country to participate in the prestigious Spotlight section at Frieze Masters in London, one of the most important art fairs in the world. His work, marked by a strong symbolic, spiritual and political dimension, articulates tradition, knowledge, identity and social criticism, affirming a style of painting where ancestral memory and reflection on African modernity intersect as an exercise in critical freedom and affirmation of thought.
