PT| Na quinta-feira, 10 de setembro, entre as 17:00 e as 20:00, a Casa da Liberdade - Mário Cesariny inaugura “Reinata Sadimba: O Toque que Cura”, uma exposição individual dedicada à consagrada ceramista moçambicana.
Com curadoria de Carlos Cabral Nunes e patente até 24 de outubro, a mostra reúne um conjunto alargado de esculturas, incluindo peças inéditas, que revelam a força ritual, simbólica e transformadora da sua linguagem artística.

Curated by Carlos Cabral Nunes and on view through October 24, the exhibition brings together a broad selection of works, including several never-before-seen pieces, highlighting the ritualistic, symbolic, and transformative power of her sculptural language.

A Casa da Liberdade – Mário Cesariny apresenta “Reinata Sadimba - O Toque Que Cura”, uma exposição individual da consagrada artista moçambicana Reinata Sadimba, com curadoria de Carlos Cabral Nunes, patente de 10 de setembro a 24 de outubro de 2026.
Desenvolvida a partir do conceito The Healing Touch Series, concebido originalmente durante a residência artística da escultora com a Perve Galeria, em 2023, a exposição assume o formato de uma instalação imersiva de forte impacto visual e conceptual. O projeto foi entretanto apresentado em importantes palcos internacionais, nomeadamente na ARCOlisboa, 1-54 London, AKAA Paris e Art Dubai, adquirindo agora uma nova configuração na Casa da Liberdade – Mário Cesariny.
As obras de Reinata Sadimba partem da profunda ligação da artista à herança cultural Makonde, onde a representação da figura humana assume historicamente uma dimensão ritual, simbólica e xamânica, associada a processos de cura, proteção e regeneração. Neste contexto, cada instalação pode ser entendida como um altar contemporâneo, reunindo esculturas e objetos que convocam diferentes dimensões da experiência humana e estabelecem um espaço de reflexão, contemplação e transformação.
Ao longo do seu percurso, Reinata Sadimba desenvolveu uma linguagem escultórica singular, profundamente enraizada na tradição Makonde e, simultaneamente, marcada por uma extraordinária liberdade criativa. As suas figuras, frequentemente híbridas e de forte expressividade, confrontam o espectador com questões sociais, existenciais e coletivas, desafiando perceções estabelecidas sobre a realidade e sobre a condição humana.
Em "O Toque Que Cura", a dimensão terapêutica e transformadora da criação artística assume particular relevância. A arte surge como possibilidade de cura e regeneração, não enquanto resposta definitiva, mas enquanto espaço de confronto, elaboração e mudança. As obras abordam tensões entre sofrimento e superação, fragilidade e resistência, memória e futuro, revelando uma prática escultórica em que o gesto artístico se torna também um gesto de cuidado.
Esta apresentação em Lisboa reveste-se de particular significado, constituindo uma oportunidade singular para contemplar a profundidade e a atualidade da obra de uma das mais importantes vozes da escultura africana contemporânea. A exposição antecede a presença de Reinata Sadimba na prestigiada feira internacional de arte africana 1-54 London, em outubro de 2026, bem como o seu destaque no projeto curatorial que Paula Nascimento apresentará na 17.ª edição da Bienal de Sharjah, em 2027.
Mais do que uma exposição individual, “O Toque Que Cura” propõe uma experiência de imersão num universo artístico onde tradição e contemporaneidade se encontram, e onde a escultura se afirma como instrumento de reflexão, questionamento e transformação. Na Casa da Liberdade – Mário Cesariny, a obra de Reinata Sadimba revela a força telúrica e universal da sua linguagem, celebrando a capacidade da arte de tocar, transformar e estabelecer pontes entre culturas, experiências e diferentes formas de compreender e habitar o mundo.

Developed from the concept The Healing Touch Series, originally conceived during the sculptor’s artistic residency with Perve Galeria in 2023, the exhibition takes the form of an immersive installation with strong visual and conceptual impact. The project has since been showcased at major international venues, including ARCOlisboa, 1-54 London, AKAA Paris, and Art Dubai, and now acquires a new configuration at Casa da Liberdade – Mário Cesariny.
Reinata Sadimba’s works stem from her deep connection to Makonde cultural heritage, where the representation of the human figure historically assumes a ritual, symbolic, and shamanic dimension associated with processes of healing, protection, and regeneration. In this context, each installation can be understood as a contemporary altar, bringing together sculptures and objects that summon different dimensions of human experience and establish a space for reflection, contemplation, and transformation.
Throughout her career, Reinata Sadimba has developed a singular sculptural language, deeply rooted in Makonde tradition while marked by extraordinary creative freedom. Her figures, frequently hybrid and intensely expressive, confront the viewer with social, existential, and collective issues, challenging established perceptions of reality and the human condition.
In "The Healing Touch", the therapeutic and transformative dimension of artistic creation takes on particular relevance. Art emerges as a possibility for healing and regeneration—not as a definitive answer, but as a space for confrontation, elaboration, and change. The works address tensions between suffering and overcoming, fragility and resilience, memory and the future, revealing a sculptural practice where the artistic gesture also becomes an act of care.
This presentation in Lisbon holds special significance, offering a unique opportunity to contemplate the depth and relevance of the work of one of the most important voices in contemporary African sculpture. The exhibition precedes Reinata Sadimba's participation in the prestigious international African art fair 1-54 London in October 2026, as well as her featured role in the curatorial project presented by Paula Nascimento at the 17th edition of the Sharjah Biennial in 2027.
More than a solo exhibition, “The Healing Touch” proposes an immersive experience into an artistic universe where tradition and contemporaneity meet, and where sculpture asserts itself as an instrument of reflection, inquiry, and transformation. At Casa da Liberdade – Mário Cesariny, Reinata Sadimba’s work reveals the telluric and universal power of her language, celebrating art’s capacity to touch, transform, and build bridges between cultures, experiences, and different ways of understanding and inhabiting the world.
